I HAVE BEEN READING AROUND ABOUT SUPLEMENTS......SEEMS LIKE THERE ARE LOTS OF DIFFRENT KINDS...

ONE BEING VITAMIN A....

THE ONLY SUPPLEMENT I USE 2:0 t-rex calcium with no phosphorus with D3

SHOULD I BUY SOME OF THIS AS WELL it is retivite without D3

The one you pictured above--for adults dust one feeding 1-2 X monthly. I use Repcal without D3 5-6X weekly, and Repcal with D3 1-2X monthly.

so the supplement that i currently have i should only use for 1-2 monthly and i should buy one i use multiple times a week?

Codi,

I personally use Reptivite w/D3. It is the only supplement (that I know of) that uses a preformed source of Vit A. I only use it 2x a month for adults. (only Reptivite w/d3 uses preformed vit a)
Combined with repcal with no D3 your supplements are covered. One thing alot of people over look when they are starting out with chams is the fact that supplements are exactly what the name says they are. They are a supplement to your gutload. The better your gutload the less (in theory) you should have to supplement.

Hope this helps,

Todd

Agreed.

I use Rep-Cal brand Calcium (no phosphorous, no d3) on almost all crickets, and sometimes on Zophobas. I do not offer crickets for every meal, so I'm not using calcium every day.

I use rep-cal brand Calcium With D3, lightly, about twice a month, again on crickets. My chameleons do not go outside.

I never use a supplement with preformed vitamin A. Instead I use RepCal Herptivite about twice a month, lightly, usually on a butterworm or silkworm or other larva.

I try to offer a good variety of feeders and good gutloading, as I think that is the best way to ensure the chameleons get what they need. This method has worked for me for over a decade.

When looking on the back of the two supplements with D3... check out the values.....

  • Repcal 400,000IU
  • Sticky tongues 4,400IU

That is a HUGE jump with the Repcal.... So be careful. If using the Rep-Cal you might wanna take it easy with how much you dust your crickets. Just a pinch is all you need.

Check out Brad's site.

this will depend on what you are feeding your cham, and how much of the D3/ Ca content of the stuff you are using. i think reptical with D3 has 5 X as much as reptivite with d3 so then it would be safer to use it more. same with the amount of preformed vitamin A in it. it may contain less than another brand. Not all supplements are the same so dont do the same as someone else that has a different type. just a FYI

Quite right - you have to take into consideration what you gutload with, access to sunlight (or lack thereof), age of chameleon, gendre of chameleon, type of chameleon, type of lighting, supplement brand (what each contains), etc. There are many variables that will inform your choices.

Supplements--please check mine

I have a young senegal cham, I just want to make sure my supplements that I am giving are ok because I have been reading that he might be missing Vitamin A. Both of them are Rep Cal, I have been dusting all his crickets in a shaker with Phosphorous Free Calcium with Vit D, and adding Herptivite with Beta Carotene multivitamins to the dusting every few days. Does this sound ok?? Thanks!!!

I'm not a senegal keeper. That said, Im thinking that you dont need to dust with D3 every day. The RepCal brand has quite alot of D3 in it compared to other product, I think.
