Vet visit

I am taking one of my panthers to the vet tomorrow. He is not big on being handled. If i cannot get him to come out on his own. What is the best way to take him out of the cage? Also what is the best thing to transport him in?

You could use a stick or dowel rod and coax him onto it. I took mine to the vet last week and had him in a shoe box with a dowel rod taped in it for something for him to hold on to. You can take him in anything around the size of a shoe box and it works great as long as you have something taped in there for him to hold onto and its dark he will just rest the whole way there to minimize stress.

I figure I have about a 2% chance of him coming out the easy way. If his appetite was 100% I could use a horn worm to lure him out but in his shape i dont think thats gonna work

Don't force him, but gently place your hand under his belly and lift upward to see if he'll grab onto your hand. If that doesn't work, use the branch or dowel trick. When transporting, you can also use a towel inside a small box. It will allow a good surface to grab onto.

Good Luck!

everything went well. He came out of the cage fine. He has an infection in his mouth and a retained spectacle. So baytril and a ointment for the eye. I was really impressed with the vet.
