Very urgent help!!!!!

I have a female panther digging her tunnel as we speek. She prefers plain old moistened sand and will not touch it if the sand is mixed with dirt.? Do you have sand and a good deep tub to try her in that? Put a light above the tub and a stick down into it, Just make sure the light is not to close, dont want to overheat the area.

How long was she down there? My cham (male panther) cruises all over his cage and goes down to the bottom a couple of times a week, he doesn't stay long though only about 10 minutes max., I think he's just a thorough hunter;)

So does she look Gravid? You stated you thought she was going to lay eggs, If so prepare a laying bin anyhow, Better to be safe than sorry.

Have a laying bin ready. Make sure the top of the laying bin is the lowest place in the cage - so if the laying bin doesnt take up the entire floor space, fill in around it with something (I use towels). I had one female that would cruise the cage restless for a few days before laying, and always wanted to lay in the bottom left corner the cage. If I put her normal laying bin in the cage she wouldnt use it unless I made sure there was no way to get down lower in the cage around the bin. So we she starts to get restless I know its time to shove her laying bin in against the back and stuff towels around the front (the bin is slightly shorter than the cage is deep).

i dont think shes gravid, she eats fine, but i dont know all the gravity symptoms

You want it cooler are the bottom than at the top. A temperature gradient is important, it lets them regulate their temperature. A light at the bottom is not a good idea.

If the bottom is "freezing" as in 0degrees Celcius, then you need to warm up the enitre room!

Freezing? The bottom of the cage should always be cooler than the top to give them varying spots to heat up.cool down..

Im not sure what "gravity" symptoms are..maybe if you cant float? LOL.. Just playing.. GRavid.. Im sure you can find thread after thread in the searc bar..

Glad to hear she is doing better.. Did she do anything down there? See any disturbed soil? Whats your laying bin consist of and how big is it?

she didnt touch the soil. very very

pps. bottom curled into a ball in the front. the temperature was 59ºF but i'll stop with the lamp. her laying bin is that big plant pot, but im getting a smaller plant (sheffy) and a better laying bin

Whats with the 'very's? Did I miss something.

SHE is at the bottom curled into a ball!? and how the heck is it so cold down there..How can you stand it? Wow...Im freezing and its 72 in here!

The light I mentioned before is for lighting the laying bin. and definatly is not any kind of high watt light.(Like a 25 watt). But I have found a small light above the bin allows them to see and feel comfortable entering it as they can easily see what they are getting into. Provide a Stick or something they can use to get in and out of the bin with.

(also as I stated earlier) my Panther is now burying her tunnel and is now done laying today. But its dark here, and if I didnt have it lighted she may have left before she was done getting all her eggs out.

So having this bin available to female Chams when you feel she may be getting pretty fat, is always a good idea to have it ready for them. So they can use it when the need arrives, not when you finally provide it! Reason I'm telling you all this is you have a female. That may not have been the case today BUT it will come in time Even if not bred by a male, K:)

i know, dat b'true :) (the cay was an awesome book!!) im basically redoing her cage, and i'll make room for the bin

59F a bit too cold.
69F is okay, so long as she can warm up right during the day.
If this is the temp during the day at the bottom of the cage, what is the middle/ambient temp? what is the basking temp? Is she still spending time at the bottom?

Ive never seen a Cham "curl up into a ball".. That sounds very concerning. Does she have a laying bin available to her?

and the verys turned into 69a which still doesnt make sense...

her basking spot is abou 90, the middle 79-83 depending were in the cage. 69 at the bottom but idk why.

not exactly curled into a ball, but on the ground with her feet tucked in. i already said she has that plant pot. its sturdy and takes up almost the whole space. and i said probably toaday i'll get an even better one. i'll search egg laying bins ans see what i come up with

this is urgent help!!!

grrr.... my cham went to the bottom of her tank AGAIN except now shes sleeping!! she woke up because i aimed her basking bulb at her. im confused and would like answers. theres not a vet anywhere near me. i cant post links because i have to use my PSP to type this, but i have posted this and filled out the HOW TO ASK FOR HELP before. update i noticed some black spots at the back of her head if it matters.

steven

Please post the link to the message where you filled out the help page.

Please post a picture of her and one of the area where the black spots are.

I really think you should make a trip to the vets soon.

Did you get rid of the compact UVB? Does she have a place to lay? What are you measuring your temps with?
