Question: Where do you get Vermiculite? My friend back home told me her pygmy laid some eggs today (not sure of amount yet as I havent heard back from her). She says she cannot find Vermiculite anywhere. She went to walmart, lowes, and some farming store (dont know if it was TSC or something..she didnt specify).. so she wants to know if perlite is okay to use instead since she found that at Walmart, but didnt buy it. She doesnt have time to log on here between work and school so she asked me to ask. I asked Elisa but havent heard back yet...

Oh and does she remove the eggs with her bare hands?

Try a gardening specialty store, like a nursery. Or a hydroponics shop even.

What is hydroponics? ANytime Ive ever heard that, I thought it was in regards to illegal drugs?

It used to be. But now the Agriculture Society is starting to do it more. It is good because it's soiless. You use Vermiculite and Perlite mixed together and you water it with a fertilizer solution that basically goes straight on the roots. It increases the growth by at least 2 times, maybe even 3 or 4 times faster growth. The only downside is, it's expensive. But, people are thinking about using it more because in an area you can put 2 or 3 plants, you can put 20. So, thats the argument, they are testing it out everywhere to see if its worth doing, 2 years ago a group of us bought 10 automatic ones for 800-900 dollars. But, like I said, where you can put 2-3 plants, you can put 20, so it produces more crop. Hope that clears that up Blackbetty.
