Veiled won't come off free range area.

So, I made a miniature free range area for Oscar in my room, and he loves it. I have no problem getting him out of his cage to put him in the free range area, but he won't let me get him off the area to put back in his cage. When I try to get him he puffs up and starts hissing. Any Ideas?

How are you trying to pick him up? If from front, maybe try from back, underneath though. So he kind of steps up with back legs first.

Yes, he just puffs up and hisses, and I don't want to get bitten

I'd try behind him like I said or maybe a branch or dowel for him to step on.
Hard to not pull away when he does hiss etc but maybe try to keep hand there so he knows hissing won't make you go away. Or you could leave him for a bit until he's cooler and may want to go back in to warm up.
