Veiled help PLEASE

I just got my first pair of veileds last week. I got a male and female (muscles and tiny) Theyve been doing fine up until about two days ago, my female isnt doin so great now. Shes constantly dark kinda black brownish on her ribs and ashey looking too. She always seems to be tryin to sleep. Ive only seen her eat once (though im not always looking) and im afraid somethings wrong.

Ive got UVB and a basking lamp, and ifrared light for night time. Someone PLEASE help!

no infra red at night unless the temp drops below 50 F.
no coiled uvb, use linear tube.

Do you cage them together? if so, then, you should consider getting them their own individual cage.
pictures are extremely helpful. Try to post a pic on your cham and the cage.

Cage Info:
Cage Type - Describe your cage construction (Glass, Screen, Combo?) What are the dimensions?
Lighting - What brand, model, and type of lighting are you using? What is your daily lighting schedule?
Temperature - What temp range have you created (cage floor to basking spot)? Lowest overnight temp? How do you measure these temps?
Humidity - What are your humidity levels? How are you creating and maintaining these levels? What do you use to measure humidity?
Plants - Are you using live plants? If so, what kind?
Location - Where is your cage located? Is it near any fans, air vents, or high traffic areas? At what height is the top of the cage relative to your room floor?

Chameleon Info:
Your Chameleon - The species, sex, and age of your chameleon. How long has it been in your care?
Handling - How often do you handle your chameleon?
Feeding - What are you feeding your cham? What amount? What is the schedule? How are you gut-loading your feeders?
Supplements - What brand and type of calcium and vitamin products are you dusting your feeders with and what is the schedule?
Watering - What kind of watering technique do you use? How often and how long to you mist? Do you see your chameleon drinking?
Fecal Description - Briefly note colors and consistency from recent droppings. Has this chameleon ever been tested for parasites?

There aproximately a month and a half. My cage is all screen 16 by 16 inches. About 6 feet off the ground, ambient temp on bottom of cage is about 70 degrees. I have two hanging spider plants inthere, feed em crickets that are dusted with rep cal, i try to give em greens and veggies but they dont eat em yet. They are currently caged together (and they have been caged together since they were born, so its not stress from that) But i do have another cage already set up for them once they get bigger so i can seperate them. Mist the cage about three times daily. Dripping water system set up. Im a very experienced (7+ years) reptile keeper and im pretty sure ive done everything right so far. I was just wondering what the usuall cause between this dark ashey coloring was. I was thinking maybe shes dehydrated or something. Ill try to post some pics later

post your chameleon pics and if possible, please answer the Qs provided with great detail to the specific brand of products you're using.
The detailed answer can help tremendously in assessing the situation.

Clear pictures (not blurry) are extremely valuable and can sometimes helps pinpoint the problem faster.
I found that sometimes people got misinformed on the age of the chameleons (especially if they gotten them from "shady" sellers).

Veiled help PLEASE (repost with PICS)

I posted a couple days ago asking for help with my baby veiled female chameleon. Im reposting this and posting with as much info and pics as i can.



Cage Type - My cage is a 16in by 16 in screen and wood enclosure. Ill post a pic of it

Temperature - Ive got temp and humid. guages from some company that i use and the temp varies from 85-90 down to about 70 at the floor of the cage. Infra red night light is only used on cold nights.
Humidity - Spray it down multiple times dailt and a hygrometer
Plants - Yes. Two live spider plants

Your Chameleon - Veiled, about two months old, and only been in this cage for around two weeks
Handling - Usually like once a day
Feeding - I feed pinhead crickets daily and i dont gut load. I dust them with rep-cal
Supplements -rep-cal calcium and i usually do it every 3rd feeding
Watering - I mist with warm water and i have a drip system in place. Three to four times a day i mist
Fecal Description - No its never been tested. Solid white and black droppings
History -All i know is that they have been housed together since they were hatched
Current Problem - My female seems very lethargic and shes got ashey colored spots on her ribs. She seems really lethargic and i have only seen her eat once.

OK-now that I have said that, you need way more live plants in your cage. That is very sparse and will not keep the humidity up. Can you get a clearer picture of the female? What are your temps? It looks like the classic "burns" that coiled UVB lights can cause. You need a linear flourecent tube UVB as in Reptisun 5.0.

get rid if that water dish too or waterfall or whatever it is. its a breeding ground for bacteria and also your chams wont drink out of it. put a repti-sun 5.0 linier bulb and a regular house 75 watt bulb for basking. put a live scheffelera and or pothos ivy and real branches and fake vines to explore.

You've already been told about the compact light. They have been known to cause eye problems, etc.

You indicated that the temperature varies from 85-90 on down....but what is the temperature at the closest place to the basking light that the chameleons can sit? How close can they get to the UVB light?

You don't need any type of light at night and you don't need heat either unless the temps. go down into the mid 60's or lower.

You said you dust them with rep-cal but you don't gutload them....so you are providing them with very little nutrition. Is the rep-cal the one without D3 or with it? IMHO the calcium without D3 should be used on almost every feeding.

She seems really lethargic and i have only seen her eat once"...part of the problem could be with the compact light. If she doesn't warm up enough she could be having problems digesting. Is the feces (brown part) formed like a sausage or can you see pieces of insects in the feces?
The lack of gutloading could be playing a part. There are many things that could be involved. If she doesn't improve I would suggest a visit to the vets and also, that you try putting her in a separate cage.

Seriously change the lighting (all of it) asap.
