i have her 4ft screen cage about 3 ft from the foot of my bed and when i lay down in bed or im watching tv i notice her quietly hissing once every so often...i cant figure out why...also she hisses when i put my hands near or pick her up (with glove), never really bites but more so just whips her head at me with her mouth open..she has bit the glove a few times but not many...how long do you think until gets over it?

probably stressing her out with your presence. Also, they don't like to be picked up. Try letting her walk on to your arm instead.

Never... Chams don't bond to anyone so she won't ever decide you're her buddy. They see things are "threat" or "not threat". Coming at her with gloves is very threatening to a prey animal regardless of your intentions. Try hand feeding some silkworms or butterworms and not handling her at all for a while. If she associates you with food and lack of bad experiences then she may tolerate you. But some chams won't even acclimate to that. My veiled certainly never did. He thinks I could kill him with laser vision I'm pretty sure.

Hissing while she's by herself is a little odd... What does she look like when that happens? Angry at something, head pointed up, like she's trying to breathe hard?

How old is she? You have to be very patient to get anywhere with her, and you shouldn't ever hope for more than tolerance. Hand feeding without trying to pick her up might get her more tolerant of you...try to tempt her to come to you by opening the door and standing still with some food so she can see it......if you are patient and she isn't too scared she will come to you.
As for the hissing at nothing, could she be gaping due to being too hot? What are your temps?
