i had my new veiled out in a tree basking - and it started eating all the leaves - i found out it was a mimosa pudica - it ate the fern like leaves on it - it hasn't bloomed the pink flowers yet - is this a safe plant? even if its outside in my yard? i freaked out - searched it fast and seen it on a safe plant list - it also goes by Sensitive plant - any tips and advice is highly appreciated!!!

All parts of the Mimosa plant are "beleived" to be toxic.

I do see it on safe lists for birds. I would think it to be a safe practice to avoid the plant. Even "beleived" to be toxic is reason enough for me.

Maybe give him some extra water to be on the safe side.

Are you certain you identified the plant correctly? The site below says all parts are toxic.
various uses are listed. Toxidity/dosage ratios are not given and toxidity is referred for humans.
Keep close observation of your animal over the next 48 hrs, if something seems wrong, consult an emergency vet.

This site also suggests its toxic if ingested

In the U.S., you can call Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222 (for children), the ASPCA at 1-888-426-4435 (for pets; $60 consultation fee applies), or the Pet Poison Helpline at 1-800-213-6680 (pets; $35 fee applies).

Lots of conflicting data about the plant, observation is your best bet I think. With luck all will be well. Let us know how the animal goes.
