Vacation?

If I go to the beach for a couple days, can I leave my baby Veiled Chameleon home with a lot of crickets, the dripper, and the humidifier running? My parents won't let me have someone take care of him. :( I do have a UVB timer that automatically turns the UVB Bulb on from 8 am to 8 pm

He is 5 weeks old.

No, you can't, especially at that age. How long will you be gone? The dripper and the humidifier will probably run dry.
 
Considering that these little guys are shipped across country as long as he needs are met, temps etc... It's always easier to have someone stop in to feed and water

My full grown boys scare me half to death on a near-daily basis, a baby that young would do me in for sure. :rolleyes:
 
Is your whole family going on this trip?
Taking the chameleon to a friend, or family members house willing to look after it for the couple days would work, if your parents didn't want people IN their house when they weren't home (which, is understandable)
 
I left my one year old male veiled with some friends of ours for 4 days. The mom really wanted her kids to have a cool experience, and they did a great job. Asked them to feed roaches, crickets, superworms, to change out wet paper towels, feces, to feed him twice and dust his food with calcium. On top of that, they took care of two cats and a leopard gecko.
 
You need to regularly mist him also leaving crickets in viv will disturb him when he is sleeping. Can you take him with you in one of these mesh collapsable laundry baskets? If he can be outside supervised in the sun during the day you may not need uv lights not sure about temps at night where you are.

We might go, Just depending on what you guys on the forums said. Yeah all four of us are going, my whole family. My friend has an Adult Veiled Chameleon, but he's stupid and keeps him in a 55 gallon tank instead of a screen cage, I tell him not to, but he said he "researched", even though he did, he didn't come here. I might be able to have someone or him take care of him, feed him, and spray him.
I'll have to see.

He is too young, he is only 5 weeks old ! :D He is so tiny, its hard for the poor little dude to find his food, but he does!

Unless the dripper is also on a timer, and will provide water every day that you are away, then NO you cant just leave a young chameleon. Nor should you ever leave crickets in the cage at night (they can chew on the sleeping chameleon)

If someone cannot come to care for him, you'll have to take him to a pet sitter, or you'll have to stay behind. You are responsible for your chameleons health / life and that outweighs any desire for a vacation.
If your parents do not support your looking after your pet properly, you shouldnt have it.
