They usually lay them all at once then fill in the hole (leaving no trace!) before returning to the branches. Once she is back up there then that is the time to go in and retrieve the egg bin.
They are supposed to lay all the eggs at once. If they didn't then there is a problem as a rule.
They can lay anywhere from about 10 eggs to way up over 100...but its best if they are in the range of 20 - 30 IMHO. If they are producing large clutches then you are overfeeding her all the time. The critical time IMHO to NOT OVERFEED her is starting a couple of days after she lays the eggs for a couple of weeks at least.
(I keep mine cut down to a reasonable amount all the time...not starvation but enough to sustain her in good shape...unless I want them to produce eggs. IMHO...its not just the food that keeps mine from laying...its the whole way I keep them....supplements, feeding, temperature, etc.)
So last night she stayed in the bin a while, was still in there at around 11pm. This morning she was out the bin, the hole had been covered so we thought yay she's laid her eggs. But she still looks a bit fat and the's stratching around the floor again.
So now what? Do we take the bin out and check or wait a few more days incase she hasn't laid.
If she filled the hole in and it didn't just fall in then I would check while she is up in the branches...but put the container back as quickly as possible. I don't like that her eyes are sinking in. If there are no eggs in the container...or not enough to make sense as a clutch, then I would get her to the vets ASAP.
Hmm strange, well her eyes are fine now. It was just whilst she was doing it. We're at work so will check the bucket later. There is someone home to keep an eye on her though.
