Uh oh...

I noticed Leopold is starting to get the same issue in his right eye that amy had as well as molly and others :( Hopefully I caught it in time, I flushed the eye out and in the morning I am going to call the vet to ask if I can use the eye ointment I have for my snake as well as give him some roaches with vitamin A. It was over-night so it might be from when my boyfriend sprayed windex near him yesterday, I am going to give him a showwer not and flush the eye more. The bump is hard though...

Oh no! Hope it's just a false alarm...

Out of curiosity, did you send any of the ones you lost for necropsy to determine what might be the cause of this problem?

Molly was one I had years ago, Amy was Miss Lily's recent loss :( I can take a picture now, He is in the shower, a bit groggy because I woke him but he's drinking the droplets off his nose.

Can you post pics of the whole cage? id like to see if anything in the cage is fibrous.

Could be dirt. Heck it could be anything,

I will have to see what it looks like tomorrow. I showered him for a good 15 minutes and squirted some saline solution into it and he puffed it out, looked like he was cleaning it. He and Calais are sleeping now in the shower still on their plant. I figure I will leave them there to sleep and first thing in the morning I can do it again.

Well actually he hasn't been in his cage since this happened. He has been on my outside porch for the past 2 days. There is a fake ficus tree and a palm. Here is a picture from last year that pretty much shows you what my porch looks like. Everything has been moved around and there is wicker furniture out there now. The free range isn't set up so they only have the 2 I mentioned above for the time being because this nice weather is only during the day last night happened to be unusually hot

Looks great! So does the view :)

Keep up with the showers a couple times a day. if it is something that has made its way into the turret. Hopefully will work its way out.

Okay rinsing his eye out again with a wake up shower His eye is super bulgy, He is probably very hydrated :D The bump is still there, he has been cleaning out his eye and He actually left it open for me to rinse it with the saline.

Kayla, I hope you can help him get better. My poor Amy's eyes looked horrendous at their worst, bless her. My vet told me that when shed gets stuck in their eye,, they roll their eyes to clean them but this makes the shed roll up into a ball that they can't get out themselves. In Amy's case, I don't think she had anything much stuck in her eyes that he could find when he flushed them.

Yeah :( He hasn't shed, so maybe he got something else stuck in there. But I will be rinsing out his eye a few times a day with a twice a day shower. I just called the vet for some advice on if I should give him the neo-poly-bac eye ointment that I have for Jahzyra, since it's an all around eye ointment, just as a precaution but they wouldn't tell me anything except I need to bring him in and my boyfriend won't let me do that until it is absolutely necessary because he says I make bad decisions with my money with taking animals to the vet  Just because I brought chickens in for a sneeze.

That sucks. I take mine to the vets for the slightest thing. Amy was at the vets the next day after I noticed her breathing symptoms and it turned out she had pneumonia. Time is key with these animals, and luckily she recovered. With Amy's eyes, my vet was on holiday when I took her in and the others were reluctant to do more than inject Baytril and give me eye drops. Had I seen my reptile vet at the outset, maybe things would have turned out differently. Maybe also if I had insisted on a further xray. In Amy's case there are too many what if's and I try not to think about it. Chams are so complex you just can't know everything and nor can the vets, sadly. Like the night we rushed her up there and paid £35 call out fees and she was taken into intensive care. We felt that we had to give her the chance, even though I knew deep down that we would lose her. If you feel that you need to take him to the vets then please go!

I think he will be able to wait a day or two, the hard lump seems to be moving, it was hard to feel just now though the spot looks a bit swollen. I managed to get the tip of the saline salution in his eyelids and was able to squirt it in hard and fill up his eye turret. I will let him clean it himself for a bit then do it again. He is still perky and eating ravenously as usual. He thought my hand meant food and tried to eat me :p
