Uh-oh?

After re-inspecting my cage this morning to clean it up a bit, I see my chameleon finding about a good pinchful of dried up carrots that I didn't see from last night. Will these swell up in his stomach? I'm hoping no harm is done because it was a stupid mistake that could have been prevented.

then no. id put money on that. if its shredded and even if it does swell up, it shouldnt get that big. i wouldnt worry about it

My chameleon has done that with carrots, and... kale... a bunch of stuff, never had a problem. Sorry for double posting.

Carrots are just fine I will feed my veiled chopped carrots once a week

my cham has swallowed a superworm whole, it digested out fine... and the carrot if it does get bigger, will be soft like a worm.

Pretty unlikely the carrot would swell in a chams stomach after loosing its water content

That's what I was thinking. The carrots that were left were pretty dry but had a little moisture. I guess we will see. I'm keeping a close eye on him.

I don't think you guys are getting the point! They were dried up and I'm scared they're going to swell up..

Sandra you should know by now I am paranoid about most things haha! I just feel like screaming because after reading the thread about the chameleon eating the water crystal dried up and possibly dying from it I'm a bit worried.

I wouldn't worry. If it was that dried up I doubt it will swell

I just put the stuff I cleaned out in some water and it swelled up. So I'm thinking it will swell up in the cham's stomach too.

you can still worry if you like
caution hasnt hurt a chameleon as far as I know
but I dont think dead carrots are likely to swell up the way those horrible water retention gell things are.

Im sure it took quite a bit of water to get them to swell up right?? Im pretty sure your cham hasnt got that much water in him to make them swell anyway. Relax.. her will be fine. Now if he ate a lego or a hot wheel...then i'd start to worry.

1 water crystal will swell 400x its size.

A dried up carrot will not swell to anything other than maybe, and thats a big maybe its original size.

NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT...

and you can yell at me if your cham dies of a swollen carrot.
