Today I share the sad news that my buddy Bjorn has passed away.
Bjorn has been with me for 2.5 years now. About a week ago he didn't finish his meal, which immediately raised some suspicion. 2 days ago Bjorn had little swelling on his bottom "lip" similar to what I think could've been mouth rot. Working with the vet I scheduled an appointment for tomorrow, and today I walked into his room, and saw him dead.
The only factors that have changed in Bjorns cage where I bought last months and this months bugs from a large pet store (never done) and I gave him a plant I might not have quarantined for long enough.
I built Bjorn a custom enclosure that's plenty large and fully automated to keep humidity and temperature optimal, but still up to his choice.
The only thing I truly know I could've changed, and recommend to everyone is I didn't do regular checkups with him.
I hope others can benefit, relate, or find a little bit more appreciation for life through this thread. Bjorn was an awesome pal and he will be genuinely missed.
