Uh, oh....

Here's peanut exploring, she's a very attentive snake, always watching what everyone is doing.

Likes to give nuzzle my hand before she allows handling.

Well my breeding group of black rat snakes is complete, 2 males and 2 females.

And here is our new contestant and fiancee for sweet pea,

A completely unrelated male, from a different region of the US.

His parentage is unknown but I do have a pic of one of his parents.

Although I like the look of a lot of the snakes, I've only owned a rough green for only a few days. My son had corn snakes though.

I wanted to keep the rough green...but it came with mites and I returned it to the seller for him to clean up ..and he misunderstood thinking that I didn't want it at all...and sold it on me. :(

@Persnickety Parson's ...the snakes you have are beautiful!

Doesn't look very sweet. I've seen one wind up and chomp the arm of a guy I knew....it wasn't pretty. I tried to warn him it was happening but he wasn't listening.
Yeah, Missus always says, "NO SNAKES" but I've never been a snake person anyway, and I'm not going to change (that, anyway) at this age.

So fascinating how they drink.

Yeah-- If I did get a few (can't just have one of something)
Tri hognose - eastern hognose- or scaleless rat snake / corn snake---
I did not like the extra work with a silkie bearded dragon so the scaleless will probably never happen.
So if----big if-- the Tri would probably be the one.
Thanks for sharing pics!

I can help you a bit, eastern hognoses are exclusively toad eaters, even in captivity. So be ready for fun times there.

I am biased towards black rat snakes and corn snakes.

I'd also recommend the blue beauty snakes, if you appreciate a little spice from your animals.

Pic of google
Looks a little spicey to me.
my reflexes are way to slow these days.
This is crazy-- I didn't know what a blue beauty looked like but a local buddy is into tia beauties.. Very similar.
Both pics are off google.
enjoy!

Well I have a confession, I went to a local reptile Expo, (never a good idea) and I got to meet Emily from Snake Discovery, the high light of the experience, but also managed to purchase a snake she produced.

So introducing, currently no name, a coveted Vietnamese Blue Beauty rat snake.

A bit Sassy from what Emily described, but that's perfect. Of course animals being animals she had to go and make a liar out of her, and was a perfectly behaved snake. :D

I will be setting up her baby enclosure later today.

Well enjoy, and Emily is just as nice in person as her videos portray her as.

If you ever find Jewled Curlytails let me know. Ever since Hati closed they pretty much disappeared. Theres a very small population of red sided curlytails in FL buts its only a few blocks.

Well I managed to find a fiancee for the female so my snake collection is now complete, six total snakes, four black rats and two blue beauties is enough for my project.

Anyways here is are pics if the new arrival.

First his mother, he's going to be a stunner when he grows up.

And here's his bachelor's pad.

As a plus he's rather even tempered for his species, and as a bonus so is the female. This should hopefully lead to level headed offspring as well.

Speaking of the female, here are some new pics.

Now for the waiting game, I'm not breeding any of my animals until they are three to four years old.

:)

Of course i will keep you all updated on their progress.
