im trying to combine 2 lll reptile cages to make one chameleon mansion, problem is if I remove a panel on each side I loose the hinges to the door, if I remove the opposite side I loose the securing locks, is my only option cutting out the screen??? I would hate to do that if I don't have to.
Any ideas?

Just a thought but what if you made a wood frame and use that in place of the two panels. You can screw into it for your door. I would make it so it can slide into the frame and paint it to match. If you remove the panels I think the cage will be flimsy without something there.

I say cut the screen out. Like you said, removing the sides from either point effect the functionality of the design. I have done this too and just cut the screen.

Not a big deal if you ever want to replace it in the future either.

Ya why cut it? Its just window screen material. Same stuff in your outside windows, it is splined. Hell if you wanted, you could go buy some and male a new one lol.

I would also, flip the bottom and top panel so the doors face in and move the locks on 1 to be around the others, so you have double doors.

You can buy the door locks @ the hardware store! Just drill a new hole & poprivet the new door lock onto the cage! Be careful drilling & riveting the lock on! OK!

Rather than side by side, can't you put them back to back & remove the screen in the two back panels? Then you would have a door on either end.
