I am trying to learn a new language.

My girlfriend/wife to be, is Filipino, and she speaks perfect english.

I want to show her how much I love her, and be more in tune with her culture by being able to speak thier native language of Tagalog.:)

I have seen several programs that teach a second language, but am not sure which is better?

Has anyone used "Rosetta Stone"?

yep, Rosetta Stone is the greatest, thats how i learned to speak dutch. i only use it when screaming profane language at pets and my sister or when i go back home to hamburg. it works very well, and its alot easier than going to a class, or anything like that.

ha in the phillipines everyone speaks ENGLISH there!!! just tell her mahakita!!!( MA - HA - Kee - ta) means I love you in tagalog

the correct statement is Mahal kita
Don't forget to pronounce the (L) sound.. otherwise, it has a different meaning. :)
Indonesian and Filipino share common root :) So, we do share some vocabularies.

Rosetta stone is ok. I tried Chinese and Japanese one.. but, the best way to learn language is just to immerse ourselves into the culture. :)
and it is bloody expensive too.

The best way to get into our heart is through food! :D :D
So far, I see no Filipino can reject a good serving of Crispy Pata! Ask your gf. :D I love the dish.. although, I tend to feel real guilty after eating it.

I have been with her for just over a year, and she has taught me this and that, but I would like to be fluient in it.

I hear the Rosetta Stone program is very expensive. Mabey one night I'll see it on the infomercial and I'll be half asleep and order it.....

How could it not be worth it with a smile like that...........:)

My 8 yr old uses it to learn French and it is amazing. I took the courses in college as French is my major and I found the Rosetta stone much for interesting, attention keeping, and cost efficient that sitting in a college course with a ridiculously old teacher. It uses pictures to help you relate. I think its super sweet, Jay.:)
