Hi I've been wondering if it's possible for me to go on a trip to Madagascar to find a few panther chameleons and if so how much would it cost to bring them back ?

Maybe try making friends with an importer and offer time to help them and in exchange you get to ship a few over under their liscense.

I would say that something like this is easily thousands of dollars. I looked into just a trip to explore Madagascar and after plane ticket, hotel, food, etc that trip went well into the thousands so I can only imagine how much it would cost to legally bring home a chameleon with you or any animal really. I would just stick with a captive bred even though it would be cool to say you went and picked out your own Cham lol.

The cost on the US side will likely be over $500 for permitting. No idea what the permitting will be on the Madagascar side.
I believe the US has different requirements for importing pets versus commercial shipments. If I remember correctly, when I brought my pet parrots (they must have CITES documents) into the US from Canada I was limited to three animals and I had to prove I had owned them for a certain amount of time. I think US Fish and Wildlife would not believe you that you had owned them for the required time. I believe they had to be in my physical possession for that time.
A commercial shipment is a completely different permitting process and I would expect quite expensive as well.
I have been investigating the costs of sending a shipment over to Europe and the ball park figures I am getting for it are in the $4000 range. Madagascar is not Europe. You will need a broker.
You can buy wild caught panthers if that is what you really want, but why would you? Few people do well with wild caughts and they tend to die from issues relating to import. Every day my large wild caught collection is alive and in good health is a gift because the damage from the whole import process will eventually show up and kill them. My wild caughts spent a minimum of six days in a shipping crate hanging in bags and without water getting to the US. It takes its toll on them.
