Training chameleons

Hi all,

I have a 9 month old male panther chameleon named Marty who is super healthy and happy. Recently I trained him to climb onto my hand whenever I stroke the underside of his head. It became a consistent thing that I would do and every time he would climb up and onto my hand. Recently something very strange happened though. I was trimming one of his plants and Marty came racing over and pushed the underside of his head onto my finger, simulating what I normally do with him. Every time I put my finger near him he would do it and climb onto my hand. It made me wonder if he actually enjoys being pet in this way or if it was something else. So I’m wondering if anyone else has experienced their chameleon wanting to be petted or if there is an alternate explanation to this odd behaviour.

thanks all!
