toungue problem

my female veiled dosent like to use her tongue alot when she eats superworms from my hand but she will chase crickets all day in her cage
 
What exactly is the issue? Maybe she doesn't feel comfortable shooting at your hand? Is your hand flat when you are offering?
 
i usually just pinch the worm and put it by her she usually hisses at it first but as soon as the worm stops squirming she gos for it i dont think she has been bitten but i know my boy has for sure
 
She might just be frightened of the squirming. Do you cup feed?
 
Yeah she must have had a bad experience. My cham will walk right up to his silkies and chomp on them barley using his tongue at all. But when i hold a roach in there he will shoot half way across the cage. I think he had one stick a little to well once.
 
so now i think the problem got a little more serious now she dosent want to use her toungue at all and when she dose it dosent fully extend and not accurate

* Humidity - What are your humidity levels? How are you creating and maintaining these levels? What do you use to measure humidity?
* Plants - Are you using live plants? If so, what kind?
* Location - Where is your cage located? Is it near any fans, air vents, or high traffic areas? At what height is the top of the cage relative to your room floor?


Chameleon Info:

* Your Chameleon - The species, sex, and age of your chameleon. How long has it been in your care?
* Handling - How often do you handle your chameleon?
* Feeding - What are you feeding your cham? What amount? What is the schedule? How are you gut-loading your feeders?
* Supplements - What brand and type of calcium and vitamin products are you dusting your feeders with and what is the schedule?
* Watering - What kind of watering technique do you use? How often and how long to you mist? Do you see your chameleon drinking?
* Fecal Description - Briefly note colors and consistency from recent droppings. Has this chameleon ever been tested for parasites?
* History - Any previous information about your cham that might be useful to others when trying to help you.
* Current Problem - The current problem that you are concerned about.

i have my female vield the one with the problem in a 13x30x24 3 sided screen and 1 side glass cage i use a exo terra sun glo 40w daylight lamb and a 40w basking bulb the temp in the cage during the day usually hits 86 degrees or so and drops to the low sixties at night so i have a night lame on at night to keep it by the 70s i gutload my crickets with apply,broccli,potato,store cricket food,oatmeal,grapes whatever seems good and i gutload superworms with oatmeal and potatoes i mist her cage 3 times a day with a misty mate sprayer i recently took out the waterfall and substrate in the cage i only have one type of vitamin but i have more on the way in the mail but so far ive been useing zoo meds Reptivite with d3 and i dust about twice a week she used to eat about 10-15 crickets a day but now shes having trouble catching them so she eats whenever i hand feed her she has 3 real plants broccoli wandering jew and some terrarium plant i have seen her drink alot from the waterfall but not since i took it out and the last poop i saw was black with very very little white in it?i keep the cage next to the window so when i open the windo she gets natural sun everyday and the screen side faces the window so she dosent cook threw the glass

ive only had her since January and she has been great till now im gonna call some vets tomorrow to see if they deal with chameleons do you have any suggestions where i should go

I've heard good things about Dr. Funk. Mind you it's a good 2-3 hour drive.

i used the reptisun 10.0 compact uv bulb untill i saw they were bad and toswich it out with the one i mentioned first its a tube light but i plan on getting a florescent fixture with a reptisun bulb
