Tommy's Vet Visit

I managed to gert Tommy booked in with a different vets and took him along at tea time. The vet was more in depth about the whys and hows of what might be wrong with Tommy's foot. He mentioned a name but I don't remember what he said. Possibilities are that Tommy has a small fractue in his neck or a tumour that is pressing on his nerves. Anyhow, the choices were to leave things until he can no longer use his feet and get around properly or an xray which may or may not show up a problem in Tommy's neck.

We opted for the xrays as I feel that I would really like some answers and know what we are dealing with. Now for the hard part - I have to leave my precious boy at the vets on Thursday morning. I know I will be a nervous wreck and I am going to hate leaving him. I am dropping him off and going on to work to take my mind off things and then I can collect him about lunchtime on the way home. I asked if they had heatlamps, etc and the vet said yes, so that bit will at least be ok. I am just glad the weather is still warm here at the moment.

:( It is hard to leave a pet you care very much about, even for a short time. I will be thinking about you and hoping all goes well for Tommy.

Hi Tiff
Im so sorry to here Tommys still having problems. Is there no way the vet can do the xrays while you wait, I had this done with Ceaser had to push them thou in the end in only took about 10mins & got the results straight away. Does he need to be sedated ? Can imagine how worried you are I would be the same. Thinking of you both. All the best Heatherxxx

Tiff, I'm glad that you're getting the X-ray. I know it will be hard for you to leave Tommy but hopefully you will be able to find out what's going on. I'll be praying that it want be serious and that Tommy will be just fine.

Tiff it will be ok. Tommy will be fine. I know you are worried but we are going to hope for the best. Please let us know as soon as you can. Love and prayers for both you & Tommy.

Thanks everyone for your good wishes and support! It'll be tough leaving him there, but they have an admissions unit and he'll have to wait his turn. I might phone tomorrow and find out a bit more though. I think he will need sedating - he doesn't stay still when he's out, plus the vet was feeling all around his neck and lobes and Tommy was buzzing and gaping for all he's worth. I am sure he will remember the vet!

I love him so much and want some answers. I don't want to think the worst, but I am terrified that something is gonna go wrong and he won't come home after.:(:(

think possitively Tiff!!!!! nothing good can come from negative thoughts!!! getting the x-ray is the only way to go... which will lead to a quicker recovery or at least knowing what you're dealing with...
good luck and let us know what he says.... lisa

Thanks everyone! I am fine at the moment - I'm sure that'll change when I come to leave him there in the morning though.:( Poor l'il man, he's such a sweet boy. I just hope he's still a sweetie after his ordeal. It would be very interesting to see his xrays though. I'm gonna ask if I can see them when I pick him up.

All my fingers (and those of my 5 babies) are all crossed for Tommy's speedy recovery from what we hope is nothing serious. We send lots of love for Tommy!
