To be or not to be a roach breeder

My karate instructor (who swore he wasn’t a cat person) one day took in a stray and named it “cat.” A few months later he took in a little girl kitten and called her Ann... which was short for... “ANother cat.” True story!!

I need to up my naming skills

He took Benadryl to help. I’m guessing I’m going to have to only use worms then
On this topic you may have already answered it but where are the crickets and the chams in relation to where yall sleep? The one thing about the dubia is that they do not jump and scurry around like the crickets. I think if you could keep them in a separate room that he does not go into that your gonna do better.
Silks are great but they do get large quickly. Beman would only take 1 or 2 of these max when he went on his Feeder strike with everything else.

What we’ve decided for now is to completely cut out any insect that is part of the shellfish allergy and need to completely start a new diet for the chameleons. It’s going to be extra hard work but worth the work to not kill my husband Lol if I do feed crickets or roaches I will have to buy the amount I want that day and feed them all off b4 my husband reacts. I currently keep 1000 crickets at a time and so when I start back with crickets and roaches I will be doing smaller amounts and air purifiers in the cham room and wte room the hubby is in. I’m also hopping my moths will help with the food problem

So many silks

Matt was so very kind as to send me some eggs with Tye. This will be my first time hatching them. Any tips?
Wow how nice of Matt. My biggest tip would be don’t touch the food with your hands and keep everything sterile the first two weeks they die easy. @snitz427 post about the silks helps out my second round of silks. I killed 200 last time lol my 1000 survived the harsh winter

I’ve said in the past I would not breed Dubias but I’ve come to the point that I hate crickets and need to get roaches added to my life. I’m still unsure if I should soooo if someone would like to talk me into it go for it lol. Rainbow has female and male Dubias for sale right now and I’m about to go a big order
I’ve had mine for little over a month now happy as can be already had quite a few little guys and they don’t stink much.. I went to my local reptile store and he had some so I kind of got a feel for what I was working with. I live in a brand new house and I have them in my closet if that tells you anything and I’m not a bum lol. I wouldn’t say it’s ideal but until my shed gets here they havnt been bad at all only time I smell anything is when I open their cage and you get kind of a musty smell but it’s ten times less smell than any insect I’ve seen that readily available and easy to raise and their a great staple feeder.

I found a slug in my house. I’m starting to wonder about this place with all the weird bugs we have found in here. Do the bugs know I have chameleons and are trying sacrifice themselves to the chameleon gods

Dubias are natures compost heap. Put them in a bin with a small heating pad underneath, throw in all veg table scraps and apple cores you find laying around, and you get lizard food. With the right cleaner crew, you never have to clean out the bins, maybe once a year if frass goes crazy high.
What sort of cleaner crew do you use? Do you just throw them right in there with the dubias? I am breeding a small colony right now and there is so much cleanup. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong also  any tips would be appreciated

Right? I keep my hornworms in the wine cellar to "slow" their growth. Don't think it works....

Keeping them in my basement worked great for me in the winter as it was probably around 55 degrees down there. It definitely helped... but as soon as them temps rose a little they ballooned up very quickly. I think the basement is around 65-68 degrees this spring and its not cold enough to slow the growth.
