Tips for my dripper

Hi all,

My Cham lives in a wooden viv and I have his dripper set up so that the tube comes through a vent at the back of the viv. At the moment I have a hanging artificial plant hanging here too which my cham loves to spend time in, so it seems an ideal place to have running water.

Currently the dripper is dripping on this plant, and as a result the water is falling everywhere which is completely drenching my paper towels on the bottom. I do have a plastic container on the floor to catch the droplets, however the plant seems to be spreading the water all around it too. I have to change his towels each day which isnt practical or cost effective!

I need to find a method of dripping the water onto something that he can drink from, but also help keep the water captured in the plastic tub.

I dont really want to start drilling holes in the top of the viv, and I would prefer to continue using the vents at the back.

I'm really out of ideas. Any imaginative people out there?

Thanks!

Sorry I forgot to attach this photo.

This will give you an idea of the current dripper setup

What you could do is to teach your friend to drink from a pipette. Then you can make sure that your chameleon gets enough water too.

Otherwise you spray the plantleafs with water so it can drink from the drops naturally.

The dripping system has been killing me too, but i dont use the dripper every day.

Do you have vines or branches in your viv? I do not use the tube on the dripper. I drip right from the spicket and aim exactly where I want it to go. I aim it right on a branch that drips onto some leaves which trickles right into a cookie sheet or shallow tupperware to catch the water. I found using the tube, the water would start dripping in one spot, then pool and drip in another. Not using the tube works great!

Another thing with the dripper system is that it should not drip any faster than about one drop pr second.
