ok so mabee the title is a bit misleading but Mista is being a right pain at the moment.
He went right off his food since his last shed a couple of weeks ago.
His appetite hasn't really resumed yet and i was very concerned until i read on the forums how a lot of peoples reptiles had gone off their food with the cold spell we had been having in the UK.
Over almost three weeks he has only eaten approx 8 locusts, four waxworms and i brought some phoenix worms of which he has had five(not all in one go)
My concern is getting enough calcium and vitamins into him while he isn't eating his insects.
He is eating the leaves off his ficus and asparagus fern which he seems to prefer right now.
He is drinking,he is super active and he is pooping so i'm not overly worried just concerned.
I don't think i need to take him to the vet just yet but would like a bit of feedback from anyone who may have had some similar experiences.

If he is preferring veggies, try getting small bits of carrot into him. I know thats what the vet recommended I try when Betty was sick from what they THOUGHT was MBD and needed the vits. Leo has done the same, although without the added veggies since his shed.. He has eaten one hornworm..thats it int he last week.. I am going to raise the temp in his cage as I believe when temps are lowered, it decreases appetite and we have been hit hard with cold weather as well..So Im going to get a higher wattage of bulb for him to bask in hopes it will trigger his appetite. I would think as long as he is getting some nutrition via insects, just supplement what you can for veggies. You could remove the plants altogether and wait a day until he is very hungry and reintroduce the insects to see if his like for them fires back up. This is just my opinion and suggestion. Best luck.

thanks for your input there.i did think about taking the plants out to see what he would do might give that a go and see what he does:)

It sounds like he is eating enough. How old is Mista? Teenagers/adults tend to eat a lot less than juveniles. My adult veiled eats 4-5 crickets and a super every other day and doesn't want any more. He isn't a vegetarian and has never touched a leaf or a carrot for that matter.
