The Reef

Just watched this movie last night and wanted to post about it to fellow animal enthusiasts. It's based on the true story of a group of people stranded at sea and being stalked by a HUGE shark. The movie is a couple years old, and I originally avoided it because I thought it was going to be kinda' lame like Open Water. Boy was I wrong!! I started this last night at about 1 am and only planned to watch half of it before going to bed. Man, I couldn't turn away! This film freaked me out!....and to know it's based off a true story made it even creepier. Anyway, if you like shark films, check this out!! Seriously the best shark movie since Jaws. They also use a real giant great white for the movie. Anyone seen it or heard of it?

Thanks, I will have to check it out. I avoided it too, because I thought it was another film like "Open Water"

I think you guys will dig it! It was pretty much everything I wanted Open Water to be that it wasn't. The acting is pretty great, and there's no crappy shaky hand cams. The pacing is done so well, showing the shark enough to make you feel really claustrophobic and terrified.

Let me know what you think Olympia? The director also did a previous movie called "Black Water" about a rogue crocodile. I found out about it after watching The Reef. It's also based on a true story about a croc killing some people. Based on the IMDB reviews, it looks to be pretty solid. I'm going to check this one out tonight.

I watched it a few nights ago and liked it, I spent the whole movie shrieking in anxiety with a few friends, which is always fun! lol Good lord, that shark looked like it was extremely well fed - looked like the roundest shark I've ever seen!
