Taking your cham outside

I have seen photos of chams that people have taken and some are outdoors, is this a safe thing to do.....I know that if I take him out already on a tree or plant from inside he would be safer, but what about on the ground or trees growing outside?

I take Loki out all the time when weather permits, but the tree I put him on is very small, and I sit out there with him the whole time watching for preditory birds and to make sure he doesn't get lost. I also have a sunning cage I made that I hang on the patio when it gets sun to let him enjoy the sun, I just check on him regularly to make sure he's not too hot or bothered by any birds.

outside sun is great for them.

but if you do take him out, and hes not in a strong sturgy cage, then you must watch him at all times they can sneak away quite fast when they want to.

also, make sure the cage cant blow over, someones cage did that, and their panther has been missing for over 4 months now.

Ashleigh, have you got any pics of your hanging outdoor sunning cage? I'd love to see it! I have one for Stanley that hangs but it isn't moveable... I'd love to be able to move it around as the sun moves across the sky.
Thanks,, lisa

These aren't the best pics because it isn't hanging like I normally have it, but it has handles on the long side and the short side so I can use the solid bottom for part shade when hung up on the patio. It's made out of a rat cage I had left over and I also had some bendy branches and foliage from a craft store that I had left over from my free range when I was working on it. It's good for car trips if need be too

No problem! It was actually my husband's idea to use the rat cage :p The bendy vines were perfect and I just added a few plants to the sides of the cage for hiding. I've used this in the car with success and I used some strong material for the handles on the long and short sides for hanging and for carrying. I haven't had to go the vet yet (knock on wood) but when that day comes, we will be prepared!:D
