Supplements & How I Plan On Using Them

Hello All,

My wife and I just recently purchased two (2) unrelated Ambilobe Panther Chameleons and, are super excited to be raising them.
As well plan to, hopefully, be breading them in the next year to year and a half.
We will post pictures in the appropriate thread once we have them set up and home!

We have had Veiled Chameleons in the past (10 to 12 years ago) but do not recall what the recommended supplements were at that time.
With my research we have been doing with these Panthers, I see the community has possibly learned and grown a bit in the last decade or so.
Which is AWESOME, but a little more confusing LOL.:)

So my questions is in regards to diet supplements.....
Want to make sure I am on the right track. This was about the only portion of research that I was not totally sure about.

The are the supplements we planning on feeding and frequency are....
1) PangeaCal Without D3 by Pangea - Every Feeding
2) PangeaCal With D3 by Pangea & Repashey Calcium Plus - Twice A Month (When I Feed These, I Wont use "1)" above.

Thanks you for taking the time to have a read through, I look forward to the response.
Just want some sort of thumbs up (y) that I am on the right tract with this.

While not familiar with the PangeaCal brand, I assume they are okay. However, the Repashy Calcium Plus is not. I can’t recall which vitamins it is too high in for chameleons, but it is. Also, it contains D3 so you would be double dosing in D3. A couple of better options would be : substitute ReptiVite without D3 for the Calcium Plus. It is a great multivitamin which has preformed A. This would be used one feeding every other week, alternating with the PangeaCal with D3 OR substitute Repashy Calcium Plus LoD (or ReptiVite with D3) for both the Calcium Plus and the PangeaCal with D3. This is a combination product of multivitamins and D3 and is used one feeding every other week (or twice a month).
I would suggest getting refamiliarized with keeping your chameleons before trying your hand at breeding. I’ve only been at this for about 6 years, so while I know husbandry standards have changed, I couldn’t tell you how specifically. If you haven’t already been to https://chameleonacademy.com/ I encourage you to check it out for all the latest and greatest on chameleons. Chameleon Academy and Neptune the Chameleon are also great sources on YouTube. Of course, the wealth of experience and knowledge of the forum is always astounding and can answer just about any question. Welcome back to chameleon keeping.

Hello!

I agree with @MissSkittles. I personally use Reptivite twice monthly and Calcium without D3 at every feeding. These powders can last forever— I’ve had mine for a few months, and they’re not even half empty.

Here is my personal dusting schedule, in case you would like a physical reminder! Good luck on your journey with your panthers. :)
