Supplemental heating

So, I live in the Northeast and my building has not turned on the heating system yet and the temperature in the apartment got down to around 68 degrees F. Just wondering if I should put a heating source in or around the cage. Thanks in advance!

I have a space heater in my cham's room for just that reason. The space heaters suck all the humidity out of the room though so if you can get a hold of a cheap oil filled portable radiator, you might have better results. plus you can set a tub of water on top of it for evaporation.

what type of cham? 68 is ok at night depending on the type of cham and as long as daytime temps are still warm enough. I wouldn't be too concerned unless it starts getting closer to low 60's.

68 is not too cold at all. The temps in Madagascar get into the 50's at certain parts of the year. I wouldn't run a heater unless it got below 60. No need for a heater just yet!!!!

Thank you all, and wow - I never realized how cold it got there! I am going to research the upper ranges of the temperature there!

Interesting...

I always assumed it was a warmer climate but this is pulled directly from a website:

The highest monthly average high temperature is 26 °C (79 °F) in February, & November.

The lowest monthly average low temperature is 10 °C (50 °F) in June, July & August.

yeah, I was researching their temps the other day just to get an idea of what their natural habitat was and I saw the same info with those three months out of the year averaging 50 degrees!
