I was hoping I could get a few suggestions on the best/proper way to get your chameleon out of the cage and onto your hand. I know the obvious don't grab them and all chameleons are different but how do some of you do it? Is it normal for them to be timid and skittish when you try to get near them? Ever since he opened his mouth on me I've been pretty timid while trying to get him out . Suggestions please

Never grab from above or "rip" them off their branches. They are delicate.

Try to get a superworm or their favorite food and hold it by your arm and see if they will crawl onto your hand to get it.

My cham loves to go out on his free range tree, so he learns that my hands or a stick is the way to go, so when he wants to get out, he will beg, and I will put my stick out and he will climb on.

Associate your hands with good things.

how long have you had him and how old is he
personally for a skittish cham i would put a plant outside there enclosure and see if he comes out.it may take days, weeks, months but will be worth it.try it once a day and see what happens.its nice when they do not feel confined to there enclosure.build up his confidence and go slow and he hopefully will be calm around you.once has coming out for 5 mins or more try feeding him treats whilst hes on the tree.patience is key.
