suggestions on setting up a hospital tank for veiled w/ mbd

I recenty adopted a veiled with severe mbd. Hes in a 20g long which is useless because he cannot climb or move and stays in one spot on the vloor so i wanted to set up a smaller hospital tank. Is an open top ten gallon plastic tote suitable? I dont want a screen or anyathing blocking any potential uvb. I am currently syring feeding and watering multiple times a day...if he doesnt improve to where he can at least move a little and eat on his own, will he live a happy life continuing the regimen. I feel so sorry for the poor guy. I hope his liquid calcium ad injections help over the next few months because i dont want him to be miserable forever.

most of the battle is their will to live. things will get better for you as their bone density increases. breaks will heal and the bones will get stronger. they may have crooked legs and stuff but they learn how to use them and get around. check out posts and videos by captainmorgantown about his little girl jojo on here and youtube. jojo had mbd so bad most of her is deformed. but with her will to live and the care of a loving and dedicated owner, she may look funny but she rules!

there are alot of people here on the forum that will help you get through it but it will be easier for everyone if you start one thread and stick with it through the recovery that way all the info is in one place.

about the hospital bin: it is more important to keep them safe and protected from other critters, etc. and to keep them from falling and hurting themselves worse. at night i kept mine in a plastic shoebox sized tub inside his old cage. if they aren't moving around much, it doesn't take much to keep them in. for mine, during the day i had a mesh board (old florescent office light cover) that i covered with a cotton dishtowel sitting in an industrial cookie sheet. i laid a few branches and a bunch of leaves so he felt like he was hiding in a tree but was sitting on the window sill. i hung his water dripper from the curtain and his heat emitter and uvb light from the window shade so they were easy to raise and lower as needed.

Unfortunately he passed away today. He was basking in the sun today when he vomited, then later on he vomited again and passed shortly after. At least his suffering is over.
