I was thinking about getting a substrate tray for my Jackson's (Roku) cage, is it a good idea? Do they do well with this? What are some risks being run? What substrate should I use?
Hello, welcome to the forum Here is a very informative video made by a forum member about Jacksons - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lKTbUaOQ0aA

I personally have a sandy soil substrate for my Veileds (who prefer it drier), but it can still be an inconvenience. Having substrate certainly means keeping an extra close eye (especially during feeding) to make sure he doesn't eat any deliberately or accidentally. Bark and moss substrates are the most dangerous.
I had an idea recently regarding susubstrates. I know some people like the look of it. What if you put a fine mesh screen over it. This way you would have the look of it but the cham wouldn't really be able to get any. Not sure if anyones ever done it, but figured it might work.
