Strange and highly concerning tongue issue...

Hello everyone, I'm posting about my 1 year old female veiled who has an incredibly swollen tongue. I took her to the vet and they said she's in great shape in every other way except her tongue, it is discoloured red and purple and she can't seem to retract it very well im hoping someone will be able to give advice on what's happening because the vet has no idea what it is. We're wondering if it is trauma or not because her strength and activity is fine, there are no signs of mouth rot or any diseases or infection. The other reason is that her tongue became this bad in a mere 4 hours, we checked on her before we went to bed and there she was with her tongue hanging out.

It would also be great if someone knew a good way to feed her without doing any more harm and stress, right now I've been putting some pear and read berry baby food on leaves and in a small tray in the hopes that she will take some but I don know if it's enough

Why didn't the vet diagnose and treat her tongue problem?

I would go to a different vet, ask them first if he/she has experience with chams, and I would not hesitate, because this could turn into a serious infection issue.
It may just be just be swollen from an injury, but I don't know, and would have a experienced vet check it out.

Well she hooked us up with a specialist but I postponed it for a day because my Cham is very healthy other than her tongue, I wanted to wait and see if it would get better or if someone knew what was going on before I dropped huge money on a specialist that would tell me the same thing the vet told me and charge me the bill anyway. The swelling had gone down but very minimally I'm booking an appointment for her tomorrow though so we'll see what they'll have to say.
