Hello everyone, 16 panthers were stolen from my backyard enclosures lastnight in elyria ohio taken were 4 males one is blind they are all ambilobes, 12 females if anyone hears or sees anything please let me know 440 539 7303 . Ill post some pics of them in a few I'm on my phone right now . I hatched these babies about 1.5 yrs ago and haven't been breeding since I planned on keeping what I had and makes me sick to know someone stole them for apparently to sell. I had all kinds of lighting outside in open garage and dozen small screen cages . And only thing was taken was Chameleons no cage nothing else I have no idea how they plan on caring for these animals. I rarely have company over and most people that know me wouldn't take my animals when they could walk into my car and just take my stero or tools from open garage someone wanted chameleons and all of them . I'm pretty sure my young neighbor and friends have something to do with it since they know what I have over here . Thanks any help appreciated

OMG I'm sooooo sorry to hear that :(! Being from the Cleveland suburbs I know this is an absolutely reality. Needless to say that yeah I don't trust anyone around here! Ugh, that just makes me sick. I really hope whoever did this will be caught and dealt with accordingly  Please keep us updated and if I hear of anything on this side of town I will for sure let you know!!

I happen to be a Forensic Specialist for a living. Not something I share too often.

I do not know a great deal about your state, your laws, or the level of service you might receive from your police department.

However there are a few things to know about.

One, did you file a police report, if so did you list each animal as being worth around $300? If so your loss would be over $3000. That's important since some laws have a dollar amount attached ( difference between a felony and a misdemeanor ). Also the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Contact your detective (if you even have one depending on the size of your police department) and explain the value. Also help the detective by giving them ideas where these animals might be sold. I doubt the average one would even have a clue.

Lastly, you need to look for them. You know what they look like, you know where they might be sold, honestly you are the best bet for finding them

Side note: Be careful what you post here since these thieves might look for information on the internet about what they are worth and come to these forums. Then they would read about what you have going to find them.

Add some hidden security cameras and don't even tell your family/friends about them. Video tends to be some of the best evidence in addition to prints and DNA.

Good luck

Thanks everyone I'm going to make the report soon I haven't yet . Still kind of shocked and really hasn't hit me . They were huge part of my life I got into chameleons when I had nothing they brought me happiness and was a great hobby to keep me busy and make couple bucks here and there selling clutches and I loved raising animals . I have good feeling they won't be able to sell them so easy being all the local pet stores know me and I'm online a lot . If anyone I know see them on craigslist or Instagram Facebook I'll know instantly . I'm scared they won't be taken care of since theyre going to have hard time getting rid of them all I think being I out out notice . I'm hoping for the best for them ATM . I really wish someone realize it was stupid and puts them back tonight wishful thinking . Thanks everyone for help and concerns means a lot

Oh my god, those guy's who did that deserve to be castrated and then burried alive in a colony of fire ants!

So sorry for your loss, wish we could help but i'm afraid they are not gonna turn up in Belgium.
I hope you get them back real soon and that they are well cared for in the mean time.

Best of luck and don't give up hope.

Timing is everything, you need to make the police report ASAP. No report = you don't got a snowballs chance in hell of getting them back even if you DO find them.

Really sorry to hear they were stolen.
Think they might try to sell them off on craigslist? I can keep a look out.

Thanks everyone really appreciate tips and concerns , no word so far but I'm not going to give up on them either. Be nice if I woke up an they were all back in enclosures :) such a nightmare wish was sleeping

I'm from Windsor ontario which isn't that far I'll keep an eye out for you. I hope they all make it home safely. Good luck

This is terrible. This has happened to two other people in the area. I'll keep an eye out on the classified section on multiple sites. People need to look out for that to go to be true deal on Chams and question where they came from.

So sorry to hear this!

Here's what you do....I told a friend to do this with money out of a purse that got stolen.

You go to the person(s) you suspect and ask them if they saw anything. Then casually mention that you have hidden cameras out there but the monitor on your DVR is broken so you can't view it, but you'll be giving the hard drive to the police tomorrow unless the animals somehow reappear in their cages before then. Might also mention because of the value involved that the persons will be charged with a felony when caught.

Then leave the cages accessible and wait. Or like what happened to my friend, the perp broke down crying right then and there and gave the money back.

That is horrible. :( I'm so sorry. I hope you get them back, safely. I would definitely file a police report asap.
