Spike roaming

Spike for a long time now has done a lot of roaming around his cage what i was wondering is what does it mean? He comes down to the bottom a lot and kind od presses against the cage then he will go back up does this mean he wants to come out

How old is he, and how much space does he have? My guy was quite active his first couple years (free range) and liable to turn up anywhere he could get to; at 2 he started to settle down a bit, and from 3 on he's pretty much settled on a set collection of haunts. Also check your temps at different levels of the cage, your furnishings (enough things to clamber about on/places to hide?) and whether there's anything he's seeing that's either agitating him or that he wants to get to.

mine was doing that every morning and then i put him in his mansion 2x2x4 and he stopped. he acts pretty normal now. maybe he wants a bigger cage

my 3 tr old has been doing that since he was 6 months old even in his five foot tall cage. he has a morning routine like you mentioned: first basks for an hour then makes two rounds down to the cage then up then back down. sorry i dont have an answer why they do this but it might just be a daily routine looking for food and what not

Id love to free range him because when i put him in his tree by the window he would stay there all day if i let him i just worry because i have 2 high energy dogs

You would have to be VERY CAREFUL to keep the door shut at all times so the dogs couldn't get in.
