Spike basking too much?

Hes been shedding lately and hes been basking a lot hes always real dark the basking spot is about 84-86 is this to not hot enough what could cause him to bask a lot?

I think they all like to bask allot. Since Luie became an adult, I've kept his basking spot 88 to 89.

my sub adult male vield was doing this....his highest branch was right under the heat lamp....he was always brown....and he was gaping his mouth open just a little ....like he was to lazy to move out of the heat lamp...so i moved his tallest branch out form under the heat lamp and put a middle branch under the heat lamp....hes no longer dark like that unless hes basking ...and no mouth gaping

thats funny my 9-11 mo old subadult does this right now too... now im not so worried

My 2 year old did this up until a couple of months ago. Now he seems to like to stay in only a couple of places a day and not bask so much.

if the ambient temp is too cool, they will bask a lot
