And Yes They are easier to find at night with a good flashlight. they sortof glow and stand out from the foilage. also try a regular bulb one & the newer LED flashlight that may even make it stand out more.

Beardeds7587 Lives in Brick NJ which is close to you I think? I don't know if has a veiled or not, I have male and female Panthers -would they help or not? Not sure because they are of the wrong class but if they will help I can drive over today and help.

Brick is fairly close, and panthers i'm not quite sure would work because of the difference in species but thank you very much for your help

I lost my jackson's once. The way I found him was early in the morning when it was cool, he would climb up to the top of the tree and bask in the sun. I checked with binoculars for days and one day spotted him. My husband put up a huge ladder and he used a big stick to get him to crawl onto. This was in my neighbors yard too, they thought we were crazy especially at the crack of dawn!

Yea i've noticed he gets up around 6:30am so i've been waking up at 6 and looking at the top of the tree as well as the side facing the sun, same method, but ladder already in my neighbors tree (leaning over fence) my neighbors are helping too, everyone with binoculars

When I lost my Mellers last year - I sprayed water on the lower limbs of the tree he was in and that brought him down to drink the water. I was able to use a ladder to reach the lower limbs and get him.

I am trully sorry.. i know the feeling. Once my bearded dragon ran away out side and it was so so sad. About two or three weeks later my brother found him out in the garadge. Fat, Happy, and most definetly alive.... So dont lose hope! Even though these animals are captive breed, they still know how to surive, its what they do!

Yea I was going t. Try that one today but it decided to rain on me so I'm not sire how effective that will be now =(

Thanks for that, makes me happy knowing there's still hope but he's not in my yard he's in a neighbors but hopefully he'll turn up ya know? I mean they usually do

yea he is brighter when he sleeps but he's not big on the hand-feeding ... though he does eat out of a little dish-like saucer and whenever i approach the cage with the saucer, he starts to climb down to eat

If it were me, I'd figure out a way to have that very same little dish-like saucer some place visible, maybe you could attach it to one of the lower branches?

I would cut down the trees if I couldn't find mine. Do yours first, then if you don't find him, wait til the neighbors are gone to work and get theirs. If you like your neighbor you could cut the limbs off one by one and search them since it would be less destructive, but otherwise just go all out. If you're worried about doing this in a limited window of time, just quickly haul the tree to your backyard so you can search it without being caught.

I also can't help but wonder if there are any kinds of lights that make chams show up well. Perhaps you could get up in the trees at night with a black light.

JC thats a little extreme. i mean, i love my pets but to cut down 3 trees is way easier said than done. Im sure im not the only one thinking it, but your in jersey so if the night didnt get to em, the possums, raccoons, cats or birds proboly did. i am very sorry for your lose but i say you need to hope to spot him from the ground and begin shopping for a new guy. Im just trying to be honest. I truly hope you find em. you did all you could do. keep your head up and consider it a lessoned learned.

Yes, cutting trees is not really a good solution. As this is a student who's Mom is helping him look, I don't even think he should go after the tree in his yard.

A few members have suggested using a female in a cage outside, so do that. Search on these forums for people near you, even the person with a female panther may work. At least give it a shot. It is your best bet.

Search local pets shops and explain your situation. Maybe they will let you pay for a female veiled, if they have one of adequate size, and return her within a week for a full refund. Hopefully it would not take that long. Good luck.

Yes, and i had lost hope completly... I should have noticed that the little black beatles that had arived in my garadge for summer, were slowely starting to go missing . Funny that my little spike was having the time of his life feasing on wild bugs while i thought he was dead.... I guess that it shows that wild bugs arnt alwase as deadly as they are assumed to be!

Just to give you some encouragement, my pain in the a** niece and nephew let out my male Rudis chameleon without asking and lost him and he has been gone for two weeks. I was walking through the yard literally an hour ago and found him about 100 feet away from where his cage was, walking on the ground, patrolling his new area for insects, intruders, etc. He looked great, and was very angry that he was found. I never thought I would see him again and I haven't slept since he went missing. Keep your hopes up. I live on 30 acres in a busy area, surrounded by another 150, so all the raccoons, coyotes, foxes, owls, opossums and every other predator are literally in my front yard nightly. I figured a Blue Jay would have eaten him if the others didn't. You have to realize that, though it does sometimes happen, our predators aren't used to looking for, and eating reptiles, let alone chameleons, here in the Northern part of the U.S (Minnesota, New Jersey, etc), so the chances of them being spotted and eaten are not as high as you would think. Raccoons probably think it is a lawn ornament.
So keep your hopes high!

How far are you from Hamburg Pa? There is a reptile show there this weekend and maybe you could pick up a female. I just gave my female to a friend of mine or i would offer you the use of her. We are going through NJ to go to the pa show. Are you close to rt 95 at all? I can ask my friend if you can borrow her but you'd have to drop her off in Stamford ct, when you're done. Pm me if you're interested and i'll contact him. Good luck. I've lost a greek tortoise before and my husband found him a week later under some leaves. So you never know, don't give up hope.
