Solar meters

It occurred to me that one of our most valuable tools might display variances between individual units. In other words, I’m wondering whether all solar meters will deliver consistent readings in the same circumstances. Anyone have 2?

lol I was lucky I could afford 1 :hilarious:

But how do you know when you should replace the battery?

Apparently I need a husband with credit cards for irresponsible purchases. :hilarious:

Just ordered number 2...as I said, on Michelle’s cc. Probably be sleeping in the greenhouse for a month ?

One is enough to keep my mind satisfied that all is ok. Also keeps me from getting knots on my head when the wife goes over her credit card statement ?

They're warranteed for 1 year.
Solar Light Company, Inc. warrants that the equipment has been carefully tested, inspected and shipped from the Factory in proper working condition, free of visible defects. Solar Light Company, Inc. warrants the equipment to be free from defects in material and workmanship, under normal use and operation, for a period of one (1) year after the date of initial operation (or demonstration,) or eighteen (18) months from the date of shipment from the Factory, whichever occurs first.

I'm more concerned about the inconsistency of UV-B BULBS.
As it happened, I wound up with 3 brand new Reptisun T5 10.0, and figured I was good for around 3 years. To make sure all 3 were good, I turned each one on for an hour and tested with a brand new Solarmeter 6.5.

At the same distance from the bulbs, I got 3 different readings varying by up to ±2.0 on the Solarmeter.

The company does recommend the meters be sent in periodically for calibration/resetting, depending on use. I've used mine maybe 6-12 times in a year, so I'm not too concerned.
