Soaked Substrate!

Its an exo terra system, sadly no holes were made on the tank! I think I'll order the clay ball substrate for drainage and order some clean up crew too

You will have to get handy with a short pipe that goes to water layer like miss Skittles suggested;
Stealing the diagram from @GoodKarma19 on setting up bioactive layers for drainage. You’ll have to periodically drain the excess water thru the pvc pipe. If you don’t have a fully bioactive system, just bare floor is easiest to keep clean.
*edit...is clay balls on the very bottom

Bioactive is less maintenance than barebottom lol.... and it's more beneficial in many ways. There are plenty of drainage methods for your situation. I'd put a pump that you can turn off and on attached to a tube in your drainage layer. A small fountain pump would do the trick, have it somewhere you can remove it like through a pvc pipe.

I've just realised, ive a brand new bag of vermiculite unopened. Would this be a good base for under the peat moss? Its good at holding water retention

Yeah the clay balls are on the glass floor. I've just learned, vermiculite is a great water retention medium. Ive an unopened bag here at home. Or maybe clay balls would be better

Need something course that will allow water to be extracted without blocking up the pipe.
River rocks,clay balls something like that. You could add some vermilite to your soil mix but would be be dependent if plants needed more boggy soil or fast flow.

I wouldn't be able to do all the work involved, unfortunately. I think I'll just make do with the clays balls and go easy on using excess water in future. Thank you so much for your reply

It'll be upgraded once he's a year old. He's quite small. Unfortunately I'm not sure how old he is. At a guess 3 or 4 months. Take a look and see if you can help please? Thanks

I'd agree with that age range.

He's going to need an upgrade well before a year old, though. My girl did very well when put immediately into her adult viv (36x18x36) at 9 weeks old.
