Chameleon Info:
• Your Chameleon - Chamaeleo calyptratus; male; about 15 months old and in my care for about 13 months
• Handling – Daily for past several weeks for the application of topical medication; prior to that infrequently
• Feeding – Crickets, hornworms, silkworms, phoenix worms and butterworms; gut load for crickets is homemade using SandraChameleon recipe; horns & silks get chow; phoenix worms get fruit; butters are rare and stay in bedding
• Supplements – ReptiCal with D3 and Herptivite each twice a month opposite weeks; Crickets with plain calcium at every feeding; worms get no dusting
• Watering – Aquazamp and raindome automated every two hours for 5 minutes twice a day and two minutes for remainder of schedule during daylight hours and he actively drinks from droplets
• Fecal Description –firm brown white urate; never tested for parasites
• History – Several weeks ago pulled the screen out of the top of his cage and got directly under his heat lamp and suffered a pretty severe burn which is healing slowly; he gets topical gentamicin on it once (or twice a day if I am off) and then Neosporin on part of it where the scab got ripped off and raw muscle and tendons visible. It is starting to get covered with granulation tissue and doesn’t look as raw.

Cage Info:
• Cage Type – 24x24x48 screen cage
• Lighting - Tropic Blaze™ HO T5 24" Quad Fixture WITH Arcadia 6% Bulb & 2 6.5k Daylight Bulbs and a Plant PRO Bulb lights on timer go on ~06:00 and off ~21:00; last misting is an hour before lights out.
• Temperature – Basking is 85-90F with lots of branches the closest being about 10 inches from the light; remainder of cage is ambient room temp which has been between 70-88F; lowest temps 60’s; digital thermometer and a dial
• Humidity – 80% after misting and then drops to about 40% but also will be ambient humidity on hot days as I have not put in my AC thus far.
• Plants – Combination of live and fake; live plants are ficus; orchids; prayer plant, a fern; the fake plants are like long vines, I got them at a craft store and have them hanging from ceiling to floor on one side and also creeping out on to some of the horizontal branches; I also wired some fake leaves to the ficus as it was very sad after moving it into the cage;
• Placement – The cage is located in my living room in a west facing corner; there is a window there but the cage is not directly in front of the window; the top of the cage is about 6 feet from my floor
• Location – Pittsburgh, PA
Current Problem – Over the past few days Omar has developed some gular edema

I recently had a montane chameleon with severe edema that was cleared up by administering vitamins more frequently. Could also be a result of the burn that is healing causing water retention/organ stress.

I changed my daily calcium when Luke had it about 6 months ago to Rep-Cal 0% D3. I've also heard folks only using filtered water for their drippers and misters. I'm now included in that group.
