Slimline Drainage Plans - Pic Heavy

I've had a lot of interest in these and a lot of people asked me how I made them. So, I thought I'd share a bit and give you my impressions now that I've been using them for a while.

They work great! I've been very happy with them. The only thing I've really changed about them is adding a good coat of rain X to the top of the sloped piece of plexi from time to time. The water beads and rolls off the slope better. Also, when I originally made these I kind just forced the sloped piece of plexi to bend, If I made any more of these I'd take a heat gun to the pelxi and warp it that way. Less chance of cracking the plexi that way.

I used 1/4" plexi for all of mine, which made these to heavy to ship. I've asked a half dozen mold makers to make me a mold so we could mass produce them, but the initial cost is out of my budget.

Tools Needed:

Table saw.
Heat gun
Painters Tape
Blow Torch - Plumbers type
Weld on Number 4
Small syringe

The last two items you can pick up at a local plexi shop.

Cut all pieces to desired size and peel paper off plexi. When you weld the Plexiglas together you lay one edge upon the top or bottom of the other piece and hold them gently in place. Fill the syringe with weld on number four and push the liquid between the two pieces from one end to the other. The pliflas will weld in a matter of 30 seconds or so. So, you don't have a lot of time to move them. Practice with a few pieces of scrap first :)

Here are some plans to help.

Please feel free to expand upon these and run with this if you so desire. I'll be happy to answer any questions on how to build these.

At this time I can't make any of these for anyone. I don't have access to a shop at the moment.

Enjoy!

Very nice....I saw your original version a while back. I wish I had the skills to do this....my joints would never line up and I would have a leaky mess.

Have you had any problems with dirt/poop buildup in the drainage valve? My mists sometimes carry it with them into the drainage.
