Silks chowing down dandilion leaves

So FYI the silkworms I have are chowing down the dandilion leaves. I heard you can use them in a pinch but they seem to love them! I ordered 200 silks for my little guy. Way too many, but the first order of 100, over half died, so I went overboard. So far only one dead silkworm in a week. So now I have all these quickly growing silks and didn't buy any extra chow. I picked dandilion leaves to hold them over and they are eating them so quickly that I don't think I need to buy any mulberry chow! Sweet! Right now Spikes diet is consisting of 50% silkies and 25% Dubia and 25% crickets. He loves everything I feed him! I love my guy :D

I haven't used dandelion leaves to feed silks, so don't know how well this substitute works long term. I suspect the worms may well eat them to fill their gut if nothing else is available, but you might see a big drop in their survival and reproduction. Again, just a thought as I am not an expert. Anyone?
