Got my silkies yesterday and I'm pretty upset! A handful or so were dead, so I pulled them out. I check on the pod this morning and more than half are dead! There's mold on the chow. I pulled out the remaining live ones, but who knows if they'll survive. Dang it all to H3LL!!:mad:

What's funny about this is that I told the local pet shop that I was ordering silkies from this company and she said, "your 1st couple of orders will be fine and then it'll go downhill". Well, this was only my 2nd order from them! Uuuggghhhh!!!!

where did you order from, you could probably get your money back. What does the mold look like, i think i have mold in my cup but im not sure

I got 30 of them delivered the other day and all were in perfect condition. They even supplied enough artificial food to grow them on and instructions on how to raise them. Theyre only about an inch long but well worth £4!!! You are not supposed to touch them apparently or they die as they are very sensitive to bacteria.

can someone please tell me how to breed them, i have four in their cocoons right now, theyve been in there for like 5 days, what do i do next?? BEFORE THEY START COMING OUT:eek::confused:
You do nothing and hope you have a male and a female. They connect almost instantly once they eclose. They will stay attached for some time and when they separate the females go gangbusters on laying eggs.

check out wormspit.com

Great information and I'm in the same place you are right now. I have a bunch of cocoons and am crossing my fingers they come out alright and lay some eggs.

I contacted the vendor and he was gracious enough to offer a free pod on my next order! :) And that's how you run a business, people! Customer service and customer satisfaction!

That stinks. I just breed my own.

I'm working on this right now. I have 10 cocoons going and just waiting for them to hatch. With this order of silkies I also ordered a pound of the pre-made chow. How long does it take for the eggs to hatch?

They should be diapaused in the refrigerator for 25 days minimum(I think). When removed the eggs take maybe 1-2 weeks to hatch. I have a batch of eggs that I have put into the refrigerator at the beginning of June. I also left a later batch of eggs at room temp. They were laid between 6/1-6/4. I am going to see if they will hatch without diapuse. If they do not, I will have eggs ready to come out of the fridge.
