Silk Worm Food

Hey guys,

I have an order of silkworms coming in tomorrow. I think i want to try and breed them. Mulberry leaves arent found easily where i am.

What are the options for feeding these little guys?

i had the same idea. ordered eggs but no chow,,, chow is now on the way! from my understanding they eat nothing but mulberry leaves or silkworm chow...

If I'm not mistaken they can also eat dardelion and grape leaves.

I thought chow and mulberry also, but was corrected by Sandrachameleon who is our resident gutload guru and she says, shaved carrots, dandelion leaves and I think the grape leaves also as the other member stated.

THANKS GUYS. i have plenty of grape vines around. better get them before they die off.

thanks for the info!!! we have dandelions in our yard but spray so thats not an option, no grape vines around, but i can shave a carrot!!!!

I believe that they will eventually deny shaved carrots.

In my experience, the silkworms ate the carrots very temporarily. I have really only had long term success with the silkworm chow.
