I came home from work yesterday to find my 4-5 month old panther showing very dark colors, hiding, and looking very uncomfortable.

He had eaten a good number of dubias and crickets that day.

Setup:
Lights - 5.0 T8 UVB reptisun and 100W incandescent dimmed to about 75-80W

Lights are on for about 10-12 hours per day

Cage - screen 18x18x36

Water - dripper and misting 2-3 times a day

Food - Dubias and Crickets so far

Supplementation - dusting calcium without d3 about 3-4 times a week (Zoomed repticalcium). Alternating between multivitamin (Herptivite) and calcium with d3 (Rep-cal) once a week.

The day before yesterday was the first day I had given him multivitamin since I have only had him for just over a week. I have not given d3 yet, but I have been handling him outside for about 30 minutes just about every day.

I managed to get him out of his cage and once he was out he was showing his normal colors:

I have since moved his plants lower so it isnt such a tight fit if he wants to sit atop them.

Any ideas as to what could have caused this?

I'll probably be replacing the dracaena with an umbrella plant today or tomorrow and hanging my pothos once the dragon strand set arrives to give him some more stable leaves to climb on

Do you know the temp? sometimes mine get a little dark if its too hot or cold(over 85 ambient and 67 or lower ambient). I would just add more foliage and keep an eye on him. He might just be trying to get used to his cage. Good Luck

Also try to have the humidity around 40-60% during the day and at least 60%+ at night if possible. I use a humidifier and have shower curtains wrapped around the sides of the cage to help out.

Thank you! My ambient temperatures are typically around 70-75F. I havent seen it lower than 70 displayed on the thermometer I have in there and my thermostat is always at 70 at least.

I believe the humidity is around the range as well (maybe a bit on the low side, but I rarely see it dip down to 30%). I have a ultrasonic cool mist humidifier that will arrive on sunday to regulate that a bit more.

And thank you, The Wild One!
