Shower outside with sprinkler?

its been super hot where i live lately. high 90's to be exact. i keep both my female veiled and male fischers in lower 80's. i am going to be getting a mistking from marty next weekend or the following week, and it seems like ive been getting so caught up with so many things, ive only realy been averaging a morning and evening mist with a dripper running all day, they arent hydrated, but ive been wanting to give them both a nice long shower each. there are just a couple problems.

1) they are too fidgety to be in the shower, it would be such a pain watching them for an hour.
2) that is two seperate showers at a time for about 1hr each, that is a rediculous impact on hydro, some of you may be able to do that, but my parents would flip. they already think 9 lights running all day is enough.\

so...

3) would you guys think the hose water would be alright for a chameleon?
.. here is a link for my city's water quality. http://www.citywindsor.ca/003077.asp

please, some input, greatly appriciated :)

... guys, just in advance, i appricate all replies so much! i would do this myself, but i have no idea what to look for, how to read this, its very confusing and new too me.

i love ya'l

i know its controversial, but in your opinion, is city/tap water even harmful for herps, chams inparticular. like should all city/tap water be fine unless there is public notice of contamination?

cainscham, appriciate your post, is there anybody else that could help too?

You can buy a mising nozzel that connects directly to a hose from Lowes for $6. I found it near the garden section where they keep the outdoor misting systems. I installed one in my outdoor cage and it does great to keep the temp down and provide plenty for your cham to drink.

hey guys, thank you so much for your posts. i feel confident enough that the city water will be fine for my chams.

reptoman, this is a good idea. however, i do not have an out door cage, ive got a spar small reptibreeze for my veiled, and my fischer's permanant cage. both are mobile but i wouldnt want to do any drilling in the cages. our homedepot and lowes has big garden departments, but i've checked multiple times for misting supplies, i could check again though, would you be able to find a link for this item? and would there be another way to use the nozzles without drilling? this is the picture im getting but could be wrong. thank you!

If you are concerned about the hose itself- walmart sells a new lime green garden hose that is safe for drinking water and the environment, according to the packaging. It's about $16 in my area.

People are a little too worried about public tap water. I work for a So Cal. water district and have to say that in most cases the amount of chlorine in the water by the time it hits your faucet is less .5 Mg/l. which is almost nothing. Remember that we have to sample and report the water weekly to the state. Private, bottled water companies do not have to adhere to the same standards that we do, and the water has nothing in it to protect it from possible contamination.

Also, your water agency ordering so many boil orders is overkill in my opinion. We have never had to issue an order. They are most likely being extremely careful which is good but can also create panic. Call your agency and have the do a total chlorine residual at your tap. That is assuming they are using chlorine as a disinfectant.
