i have a 3 month old veiled Chameleon. I keep him in his cage most of the time but when im home i put a stick leading from his cage to a ficus tree by the windows
the second i turn around he runs up the stick for his tree he likes it so much more than his cage
im wondering if i should buy more plants and vines and just free range him full time or keep him in his cage and free range when im home
i hate having to pull him off his favorite tree at night because he never goes back into his cage on his own :p

I free range my adult male veiled. full time.
I would wait until hes a bit bigger, around 6-7 months, only because if he wanders off his plant, which they can and will do at somet point, you can find him easier.

i did find that after fring him, his tude got alot better.

he is stil pretty small i have trouble finding him even when i know where he is
i think i will wait till hes an adult

Good idea.
at least when hes like 12 inches long, and has his big bright bars, hell be easier to find.

I keep Kink in a room that i can shut thedoor.
so if he wanders off his plants, he can only be in that one room.

I started free ranging my panther at 4 1/2 months (more his decision than mine). I don't regret it at all. There were a lot of precautions to take, but they are well worth it, in my opinion. He is 10 1/2 months now and there are still times when I have a hard time finding him in the free range!
