My 2 month old veil just started shedding, is it normal for them to eat less and do they become less active? We also changed his water supply recently to distilled water because he had white stuff around his nose.
From what I hear the white stuff is just salt crust and is normal. be careful using distilled water it has no minerals in it and IDK but that could possibly not be good for your cham. And it is normal for them to eat less.
it is normal to become less active and less hungry when shedding... and dont be surprised if he starts rubbing his body and face on things.
ALso the distilled water is fine, just make sure you supplement right. most chams dont get minerals from the water. unles ther is something too heavy in it, like sodium.
Yes, it's all quite normal . The white stuff is just excess salts and also is normal. Changing the water to distilled won't cause any problems at all, but I don't think it will stop the salt secretion either.
Here's a great all-round caresheet for Veileds that I always recommend - https://www.chameleonforums.com/blogs/chameleonsinmyhouse/395-veiled-chameleon-care-sheet.html
