Sexing of a Verrucosus?

I have a young Verrucosus (spiny/warty) chameleon. I have seen a male at about 1yr old and this one looks quite different. Not as many spikes, colors, or a defined skull/head structure. Is there a definate way of sexing these species. Is it possible that it is just still young and has not started forming these features yet? Thanks anyone for the help. Don't have any pictures of him/her up yet, but can get some this week. Thanks again. Steve.

As adults they are quite easy to tell apart....can't tell you at what age they would show distinct differences though.
