Hi everyone. Owned my Jacksons chameleon for around 2 years now. He's in great shape apart from a bit of a wonky horn which just adds to his character. Anyway about 4 months ago I bought him a girlfriend from the north west (I'm in England). The breeder had large outdoor heated glass house in which he had a male and and three females (one of which was the sub adult I was buying). I got her home and put her in the enclosure I had set up for her. She appeared stressed and wouldn't eat. I avoided handling her, putting my hands in the cage or even staring at her, but she never started eating and died 4 weeks later. Naturally I was devastated. So last week I was at Doncaster IHS show and found another sub adult from a Dutch breeder. I confirmed all my husbandry techniques with him and asked questions about settling her in. The usual "quiet room, perfect temps, plenty of hiding places". I've had her back since sunday now and she's maintaining dark colours, never the green and red she was when I got her. I haven't seen her eat but then I haven't been looking at her much, as every time I do look in her cage she hides behind whichever branch or vine she's on. I'm 99.9% sure my enclosure is perfect but I don't want to go experimenting moving things or disturbing her. But then if she's not happy with her setup and I don't do anything I'm worried she'll stress to death like my last one. Bit of a catch 22. It's possible she may be behaving perfectly normally but the death of my last one has me a bit paranoid. Could anyone offer some assistance or give their accounts of bringing young chameleons home? She's currently basking under the UV which she does a lot is this a good sign? Thanks
