Scared chameleon

My new 8 month panther chameleon is petrified of everyone. I've had him for almost 4 weeks and he just constantly hides or opens his mouth when we're sat in living room. Any recs on how to bond with him? (i've done hand feeding and he takes it but he still runs away after).

Hi and welcome! Can you post some pics of your chameleon and his enclosure? Sometimes enclosures can have a big impact on their stress, which is why I’m asking. Is his enclosure against a wall, in a corner, sitting in the middle of the room? Is it in the way of a frequently used path by the humans? What is the enclosure sitting on and how high is the top? Are there dogs, cats or any other animals that he can see? Are there younger or very active kids around?
