So, I had a Nosy-be Panther male around 4 years that we have had for the last three. We handled him as often as we could usually 3 or 4 times a week. He was fed crickets let loose in his cage. Usually we wouldn't gut load them we have a duster cup that we can toss them in and dust the calcium on them. We usually get crickets once a week and dust them when we first put them into his encloser. The calcium that we are using right now is Flukers with D3. The watering that I use is a misting system I belive from ZooMed that misted once an hour for 30 seconds. His watering was a little dipper drip container and his humidifier died about 2 months ago. He was never tested for parisites or showed any signs of any. His poop was normal white and light brown. The only history we had on his was he showed a small lump on his right sholder that never grew or anything. His cage was a 2'x2'x4' all screen. Light bulb was a company I can't think of off the top of my head black box something with pro at the end 150w. Temp 10 inches below the light was usually around 84 and at the bottem of his cage about 65 night never below 65 usually around the low 70's. Humidity was his humidifier until it died and his misting system on top of that latly his misting system was all but his humidity according to our gage would be around 65 to 75 during the day. No high traffic areas or anything like that top of the cage is about 6 feet from the ground making his highest acces point just a few inches shorter then that. And we are in Washington state. This morning he just looked a little dehydrated so we have a vine in our shower that goes over the top so he can come in and enjoy some super warm steam in the winter time when it is a bit colder out so I took him in with me. After a few minutes of being in there he seemed to somewhat loose his grip and ended up hanging upside down i propped him back up and he tried to poop once that started he just turned all white. By the time I could get my wife on the phone to the only local reptile vet that we know of in our area he had pooped a normal white blob and that was it but his color wasn't coming back and he was having a harder time breathing so I thought it was to late and I was right. I kept him good and warm but after about 15 minutes of taking short gasps of air he took one last long one and that was all. I know it's in health and whatnot and there isn't anything anyone can do but I just wanted to know if anyone else(as much as I hope no one here had to go threw that same sort of thing as I endured this morning) had any problems that they knew from their vet that caused something like this to happen. My new user name is in honor of our chameleon Silas, Winter 2009 - 01/21/2013.
